Provide An Answer to the Question
of Equal Justice for All in Wisconsin
The
Need
For over 500,000
low-income Wisconsin citizens, legal services programs are a source
of hope and of justice. Legal services programs are the dividing line
between safety and domestic abuse, shelter and homelessness, and health
and sickness.
Who
We Help
Your contribution
to Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund, Inc helps deliver legal services to over 20,000
low-income Wisconsinites. Kelly is one of those people. Her husband attacked her
with a knife, inflicting critical neck and head wounds. A legal services program,
working closely with the domestic violence shelter, helped Kelly become safe,
gain sole custody of her children, and get a divorce. Her ex-husband was convicted
of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and is serving a long prison sentence.
Equal
Justice Depends On Wisconsin Lawyers
Federal funding
for legal services has never been adequate or stable. Lawyers have a
special obligation to pick up where the federal government has left
off and to set the standard for a large community response.
Equal
Justice Is Our Top Priority
Ensuring
equal justice is a high priority for Wisconsin lawyers. Since its inception
in 1997, Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund, Inc. has raised over $2.5 million
for Wisconsin legal services. Lawyer and
law firm contributions are the cornerstone of our efforts and the catalyst
for a growing public/private partnership with foundations and corporations.
Why
Give
As lawyers, we share a
common obligation to safeguard the promise of equal justice. Your contribution
to Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund, Inc is the single most effective way you can
do your part to ensure equal justice in Wisconsin.
